Kubernetes Clusters by next layer

High Availability, Simplicity, and Peace of Mind

With Managed Kubernetes from next layer, companies benefit from clusters distributed across at least three high-availability nodes located in different data centers in Vienna. This ensures 99.99% uptime, GDPR compliance, and top-level security – certified to ISO 27001 and as an Austrian Cloud Provider.

What is Kubernetes?

Kubernetes is the leading open-source platform for orchestrating containerized applications such as Docker. It automates deployment, scaling, and management of containers, ensuring maximum efficiency, high availability, and flexibility in your IT infrastructure. It handles starting, stopping, and scaling containers, optionally fully automatically. Depending on the workload, it can provision additional containers or shut them down. Originally developed by Google, it is now the industry standard for modern DevOps, CI/CD, and microservices architectures.

What is a Kubernetes Cluster?

A Kubernetes cluster consists of a control plane and multiple worker nodes. The control plane monitors performance and availability and automatically distributes containers (pods) across all nodes, regardless of their location.
At next layer, nodes are geo-redundant across three Vienna-based data centers and can be expanded with CPU-, RAM-, or storage-optimized resources as needed. Persistent storage is available on a usage-based model. Companies have admin rights, API access, and a graphical Kubernetes dashboard for full control.

What is a Node?

A node is a single server with vCPU, RAM, and storage. Multiple nodes in a cluster ensure redundancy and load balancing. Additional nodes can be added at any time, making the cluster ideal for growing applications.

How Do Containers Work?

Containers include only the libraries and resources required for a specific application. They are lightweight, fast to start, and run independently of the underlying operating system. With Kubernetes orchestration, containers can be scaled automatically to handle traffic spikes efficiently.

How Does a Kubernetes Cluster Work at next layer?

next layer’s Managed Kubernetes clusters distribute workloads across all available nodes in different data centers. The control plane manages resource usage, automatically starting additional containers when needed and shutting them down when demand drops.

Advantages of Using Kubernetes with next layer

  • Scalability: Quickly adapt to fluctuating demand
  • Speed: Start or stop containers in seconds
  • Efficiency: Granular CPU and memory allocation
  • Microservices-ready: Break down large applications into smaller services
  • Agility: Containers are created faster than virtual machines
  • CI/CD integration: Perfect for continuous development and delivery
  • Security and compliance: Hosted in Austrian ISO 27001-certified data centers

For Software Developers

Independently deploy and manage containers, accelerate rollouts, and shorten innovation cycles with integrated CI/CD workflows.

IT Infrastructure Operators

High-availability clusters in Austria, flexible resource allocation, personal consulting, and 24×7 support.

Kubernetes Operations

Optionally, next layer handles operation, monitoring, and capacity management so you can focus entirely on running your applications.
